Wataru Endō has reflected on his first Premier League title with Liverpool, describing the club as “extremely special” and expressing pride at helping the team lift the trophy.
Although his playing time was limited during parts of the 2024–25 season, Endō’s influence remained significant. Slot often relied on him late in matches, and his introduction became something of a winning formula for the Reds.
Speaking to LiverpoolFC.com, the Japanese midfielder shared his feelings on the achievement:
“To me, being at Liverpool is extremely special. I knew how huge this club is around the world, so wearing this jersey even made me nervous.
When I joined, winning the league was my goal. I really wanted to win a Premier League title.
I’m proud of myself, and since there are still so many things I want to achieve, I’m already looking forward to the next challenge.”
When asked about his most memorable game, Endō highlighted February’s home clash with Wolves at Anfield:
“Every moment I played was enjoyable. Playing football in front of the fans is pure joy.
If I had to choose one game, it would be the Wolves match.
I came on in the last 15 minutes, as usual. I felt I played well, and the fans even voted me Man of the Match.
Considering I only played about 20 minutes, that surprised me — but they chose me anyway.
That day I felt the supporters truly valued not just the starters but also those coming off the bench.
Everyone in the team is important, and the fans really make you feel that.
For me, it was an unforgettable moment.”
Endō’s Man of the Match award — earned despite a brief cameo — was a reminder of the respect and affection he has built among Liverpool fans. His commitment, professionalism, and humility have made him a role model within the squad.
Loved by the Kop and admired by his teammates, Endō continues to embody the spirit of Liverpool: resilience, unity, and unwavering effort.
